Introduction

The  ‘Massage and the Pregnant Athlete’ unit  is part of the ‘Certificate in Sports Performance Massage’ which provides training in the theory and practice of massaging pregnant athletes who wish to compete, or continue their training regime. In addition, students will increase their knowledge of massage treatment techniques available to athletes during their pregnancy. 
The unit will cover

  • The changing anatomy and physiology in pregnancy and how this affects the athlete
  • Towel management and maintaining the athletes dignity
  • Contraindications and cautions for pregnancy massage 
  • Massage techniques to help relieve muscle tightness
  • Seated and side-lying techniques for each trimester

Unit fee includes:

£260 inc Sports Performance Massage book for all 5 units and weekend practical

(£30 if taken as a single online unit)

Entry Requirements

This course is ideal for physiotherapists, osteopaths, sports massage therapists, sports rehabilitators and sports therapists. Applicants should have a minimum Level 3 qualification in their respective field, however applications are based on their merit

Course Fees - £130 for face to face courses (7 credits for Continuing Professional Development (CPD)). £30 for online courses (3 credits)
